PARALLELARATOR PERFORMANCE EXPANSION

Nexus-X1

Optional Dual Footswitch & Phase Control Pedal

Footswitch and phase control for Loops 1 & 2.

The Parallelarator already gives you footswitch control and phase switching for Loop 3. Nexus-X1 is an optional add-on that brings the same control to Loops 1 and 2, with independent footswitches, phase switches and a choice of latching or momentary operation.

🔷 DO YOU NEED NEXUS-X1 ?

Most players use Loops 1 and 2 for always-on delay and reverb. These types of effects often include a kill-dry option, allowing them to be switched using their own footswitches without adding dry signal to the parallel mix, provided kill-dry remains active in bypass.

The Parallelarator is a complete wet/dry/wet signal routing hub and parallel effects mixer in its own right. If that setup gives you the control you need, there is no need to add Nexus-X1.

Want to switch other effects during a performance? Nexus-X1 opens these loops up to a wider choice of effects, including pedals without kill-dry. It switches the signal feeding each effect, letting you bring that path in and out without using the pedal’s local bypass and adding its dry signal to the output mix.

Keep your blend settings on the Parallelarator, then use footswtch A and B for song-section changes or brief effect accents. Individual latching / momentary modes and phase switches provide further creative options.

✔

Independent A/B switching for the effects feeding Loops 1 and 2.

✔

Phase options for both paths to correct inverted effect outputs or create deliberate out-of-phase sounds.

✔

Individual mode selection so one switch can latch while the other operates momentarily.

✔

A compact companion that complements the Parallelarator’s existing Loop 3 controls.

🔷 SWITCH IT.  HOLD IT.  MAKE IT YOURS.

Each footswitch has its own latching / momentary selector. Use the same mode for both, or combine the two approaches to suit the way you play.

L - LATCHING

Make a change.  Keep Playing.

Press to change the state of the effects path. The new state stays in place until you press again.

Useful for bringing a parallel overdrive into a chorus, or switching between textures for different song sections.

M - MOMENTARY

Add an effect for the moment.

Use a press-and-hold action for a temporary change, then release the switch to return to the previous state.

Useful for brief fuzz accents, a highlighted phrase, or a short burst of a second parallel voice.

Try switch A in latching mode for your main drive, with switch B in momentary mode for an extra texture when you need it.

🔷 CORRECT THE PHASE.  OR GET CREATIVE.

The Parallelarator already includes a phase switch on Loop 3 to help correct phase issues caused by an effect pedal with an inverted output. Nexus-X1 adds independent phase switches for the effects feeding Loops 1 and 2.

Correct an inverted output. If an effect pedal reverses polarity and sounds thin or loses body when blended with your dry signal or another parallel path, use the corresponding phase switch to bring it back into alignment.

Create an out-of-phase effect. You can also deliberately invert a particular effects path to explore hollow, scooped or partially cancelled sounds. Adjust its level on the Parallelarator to hear how it interacts with the rest of your mix.

Compare both switch positions with the other paths audible. The result depends on the effect pedal, its settings and the balance of your parallel mix.

Phase switching changes signal polarity. It does not compensate for delay or latency introduced by an effect.

01

Connect your effects

Use Nexus-X1’s A and B outputs in place of the individual sends feeding your first two effects paths.

02

Set your mix

Adjust the loop levels and dry blend on the Parallelarator as usual. Loop 3 keeps its existing routing and controls.

03

Choose your controls

Set each footswitch mode, compare the phase settings, and use A and B to control the effects paths as you play.

Nexus-X1 carries and switches audio. It connects through the loop signal path; the Parallelarator’s Parallel Link port remains available for loop expansion.

🔷 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need Nexus-X1 to use the Parallelarator?

No. The Parallelarator works on its own. Nexus-X1 is an optional add-on for footswitch control of effects in Loops 1 and 2 that do not support kill-dry. If your effects can be switched using their own footswitches while keeping kill-dry active in bypass, you can use those switches instead.

Why can bypassing an effect without kill-dry change my mix?

A bypassed effect usually passes its dry input to its output. In a parallel loop, that adds another dry signal to the mixer alongside your existing dry path. Nexus-X1 controls the feed to the effect, so you do not have to use its local bypass footswitch to switch that path (the effect should be left on).

Does Nexus-X1 add more effects loops?

Nexus-X1 adds switching and phase control for your existing effects paths. To add more loops, connect another Parallelarator using a Parallel Link cable.

Can I use different modes for A and B?

Yes. Each footswitch has its own latching / momentary selector, so you can use either mode independently on each path.

What happens to Loop 3?

Loop 3 retains its routing, footswitch and phase switch on the Parallelarator. Its existing phase switch can correct an effect pedal’s inverted output. Nexus-X1 adds independent switching and phase control for the first two effects paths, so you have phase options across all three loops.

Are the phase switches only for fixing problems?

No. Use them to correct an effect pedal’s inverted output, or deliberately put a particular effects path out of phase with the dry signal or another path. This can create hollow or scooped sounds through partial cancellation; the result depends on the effect and your mix settings.

Will it work with my stereo effects?

Nexus-X1 feeds the mono input side of your effects. Stereo outputs still connect to the Parallelarator’s stereo returns in the usual way, using the appropriate return cable and mono / stereo setting.

Can I connect my guitar directly to Nexus-X1?

Nexus-X1 is designed to receive the buffered signal from a Parallelarator loop send. Direct connection from an unbuffered passive guitar is outside its intended setup and may affect the sound.

Is it an ordinary remote footswitch?

Nexus-X1 routes and switches the audio signal itself. It provides independent output phase control as well as footswitch operation. This is quite different to a normal 2 button footswitch.
